Hello, my name is Karyn. I am studying the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) with Curtin University.
I have worked in Education Queensland as a Special Needs Teacher Aide, in a mainstream primary school, for the last 2 years and as a Prep and General Aide for 7 years previously. In the middle of last year (2018), I decided to make the jump to being a teacher.
I have always been fascinated with watching and listening to the teachers but now I also tend to find that I am focusing a lot more on their data walls so I can understand the curriculum that they are following. The teachers at my school are so supportive of my choice to continue my career into teaching.
This Website has been created as part of the Teaching and Learning in the Digital World unit of my degree. I am thoroughly enjoying my ‘Journey’ through the digital age…haha.
I hope that you enjoy this website and feel free to explore and comment 🙂
Thank you.
P.S. The bandanna I am wearing is significant in the fact that on March 15 this year, I decided to participate, along side 3 students and a deputy principal, in Shave for a Cure. With the support of the staff at the school, who raised $250 towards my participation, I had my head shaved. As a school, we raised over $2000. I have been avoiding having my photo taken as shaving your hair is more confronting than I thought it would be.
